Williamsburg Lady and Mary GLover SAL

Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my  Merry Cox Projects. For those of you who asked me where to purchase her charts, you cannot I'm afraid, Merry teaches in the USA and on this website http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SNS_Home_Room/?yguid=347880962, you have to become a member for free to get updates who is teaching, Jackie du Plessis is on this site too, good luck.

Well, I could not resist the Mary Glover SAL when I saw this lovely deer on it, having seen it on Merumo’s and Siobhan’s site’s and many others too, it did not look to daunting. I have decided to  change colours, and am stitching it in  different colours as I go along. Fabulous to see so many SAL-lers making this sampler in their own colour scheme. The linen is uneven 32/35 count and quite dense, the reason for this is that the over one’s will be easy to stitch since over one is not my favourite, but should make it easier than a thinner linen. I started this yesterday, and have to catch up a bit.
I would like to thank Emmanuelle at http://lemarquoirdelise.over-blog.com/categorie-11760018.html for this opportunity to stitch her beautiful heirloom.

The Williamsburg Lady finished, a lovely little project, I tried to find more of these kits, but they are hard to come by.

Do not like her mouth very much, but faffed about with it so much I got fed up and left it as it is.
Remember the Ladies, Williamsburg Lady

Just thought I show you a little more of my 1758 Scottish Sampler stitched by Barbara Hill, aged 12, incredible to be able to do that at such a young age on  very fine linen. Joy from Whitney Antiques told me (after I bought it!) that she acquired it from a couple who found it in a skip, the skip was contaminated with oil and not a spot on the sampler itself. I have to find out myself where it really came from:))

Barbara Hill 1758

I am terribly fond of Scottish Samplers, they remind me of the Dutch Frisian ones, especially the Alphabets.

Gorgeous band on this sampler, one day I might reproduce this, but this is not a promise.

Next week I am in London to finish more of my projects at a Sampler Guild member's house and will post ASAP.

Beautiful Mary Glover start! Love Williamsburg Lady too. I too love that series of projects. Your antique piece is stunning! I hope you do reproduce it -- it's wonderful!

Please reproduce that sampler! :) I LOVE Scottish samplers! I also love Wmsburg Lady. I wish that series was more readily available. I stitched Wmsburg Lady last year for a friend and changed the alphabet to colonial city names if you are interested in looking. http://thestripedrose.blogspot.com/2010/09/will-she-like-it.html

So many wonderful things on this post! I love your Williamsburg Lady - so pretty and like you, I think I'm going to cave and send a note to Emmanuelle to start Mary Glover, too! Your color choices are lovely.

If you ever reproduce your Barbara Hill Sampler I'd love to stitch it. I love the red and the spotted dog (?) at the bottom is adorable!

I really love the Scottish Sampler. I hope you do reproduce it, would love to have it. I also love the Merry Cox things, I have been fortunate enough to take several of her classes but not that cute little needlebook or the basket. You did a great job on both!!

Mary looks very nice in muted colors! I was wondering if I should change her colors as I'm not a big fun of yellowish colors, but I was too lazy to do so. I should have waited for you to get started! lol And Williamsburg Lady is cuch a cute project :) Your Antique sampler is sure a gorgerous one with my favorite red!!! Have fun in London ;)

Thanks to you, Bertie! You've done a very nice job with the Mary Glover! The other ones are lovely too. I really love your scottish sampler, it's beautiful. I've got a few in my collection too but they're simpler and less colored.

Wat een mooie merklapje wordt dit.
Je hebt gelijk, dat er overeenkomsten zijn tussen de letters op Schotse en Nederlandse merklappen.

Nice start on Mary Glover! I am so thankful to Emmanuelle for sharing her beautiful sampler. I am at the over one part and need to get it done. My least favorite thing to do--over one! LOL

Beautiful finish on your Williamsburg Lady! I love the Scottish sampler, too. Imagine tossing that into a skip! I'm so glad that it's now with someone who will treasure it. :)

Mooi begin van je SAL. Het kleine borduurwerkje is ook mooi.
De Schotse merklap is prachtig met die mooie kleurencombinatie en imposante letters.
Fijn weekend, groetjes
