Firstly I would like to thank you all who have left such lovely comments on my blog, very much appreciated and always love it that you like it.
In May we are of to Oxfordshire for a workshop with Jackie du Plessis, and I am looking forward to that. The only drawback for me is that this wonderful Briar Rose Etui is stitched completely over one and 9 flowers to go!! It's not my favourite stitch, but I am sure it will be gorgeous when finished. I have also chosen to do the Treasures of Comfort needle book, have a look on Jackie's website for this exquisite project and others, drool drool.
Since I started stitching over one, I looked at my Coverlet wip which I started last year, and now my eyes are beginning to get used to it, it's a good time to finish this over one too. It will have to be a finishing year, there are a lot of unfinished projects in my basket and when I looked at them this week I felt so ashamed of myself, no disgusted really!!!
Have been ironing and rolling my linen's last week, sorted them all by threadcount, made labels of the size too, it was a lovely day's work really (while watching David Dimbleby's Seven ages of Britain) , the creases hopefully come out over time, although I read that if a crease is persistent it might be damaged and you have to live with it. I have not tried yet to put linen in the freezer which should be a solution for gettting the creases out, so I am told.
This is a selection of my linen, I did not dare to show you all the linen I have collected over the years, but hopefully there are some Kindred Spirits out there with the same problem LOL.
When will Spring arrive!! It has been so miserable in February and the start of March is much the same, but the Snowdrops seem to love it.

Have fun at Jackie's class! She's a wonderful teacher! And yes, I do that as well -- if you're in an over one mode, might as well tackle other over one projects! Love that coverlet piece, so pretty! I can't wait for spring either. Love your linens and how you've gotten them all rolled up -- smart idea! (I have quite a collection of linens as well, so no worries there! lol!)
As for me, I WISH I had such a linen collection, so no worries! :D It's looking beautiful, even if it is a bit tedious.
I hope that you have a lot of fun in Jackie's class. She teaches at our Guild, but I've never taken a class from her. Just love that Coverlet piece too - I may have to look for that. I know what you mean about the over one - but then you get used to it and it seems strange to go back to over two.
Quite a collection of linen - but we can't have enough linen can we?
I've heard that Jackie gives wonderful classes. Her projects are gorgeous. I know what you mean about over one... but I have found that once you get a rhythm going it does get easier.
I won't admit to the amount of linen stash I have either... some things are best kept to oneself.
Your hard work will pay off with the over one stitching. The etui is a beautiful project and I have stitched it. It is hard getting through the stitching but you will love your completed etui. If you want to look at the completed project, visit my blog and go to the Needlework Albums, it's in the 2008 album. Jackie is a love and you will really enjoy her as a teacher. I am attending a retreat with her at Elegant Stitch next month and can't wait!!!
Nice WIPs...looks like fun over one! Love your fabrics rolled and wrapped with ribbons. Looks so inviting.
Hi Bertie, I love what you've done with your linen. What an excellent way to store them. Thanks for sharing.
Your Briar Rose is looking lovely, the linen looks a lot darker than I expected though. What a good idea to roll your linen, I have some stubborn creases in the evenweave I'm working with at the moment, I wonder if rolling will work with that too.
Have fun at the Jackie du Plessis class. The Briar Rose looks a beautiful project and all that over one will be worth it in the end.
I like your idea of storing linen by rolling it. I hate when I get a piece that has a very resitant crease in it. I have tried the freezing method and it works but have to say that I have done that more with linen that I was going to use in smaller projects.
The Seven Ages of Britain series is very good, isn't it.
Thanks for your visit and lovely words, a nice blog you have, have a nice Friday and see you later...hugs from VIOLA
Lijkt me geweldig die workshop ik las erover, jammer dat ik niet even mee kan.Je linnen ziet er weer prachtig uit en de sneeuwklokjes zijn ook lief.
Liefs
Erna
I know you'll love the class with Jackie. I've heard such good things about her classes, and what a neat project! I like your rolling-the-linen idea. I have mine all still folded the way it was when I bought it, usually prepackaged.
And you will meet Anne - tempus fugit and Sof: they are both coming to the Jackie du Plessis event
thankyou for visiting my blog also
