The finishing on the Hornbook itself was quite easy, just glue it on the wood, the sides are finished with nunstitch and I ironed a piece of interfacing on the back of the linen.
Even you can do it Siobhan & Terri :-))) finishing is easy peasy.
Would love to extend my collection of Hornbooks now and have to see what I stitch on the empty one, I did look in this little booklet, but that means that I have to design it myself, yes I am lazy, but might give it a try.
The linen in the background is Selkie 36 count by An Elne of Lynnyn.

Bertie, your hornbook is absolutely beautiful. I have never given them a thought but yours have caught my attention and now I want my own little collection. I just love, love them!
Bertie hij is prachtig geworden
Lieve groetjes
Erna
Bertie, I love your hornbook!!! I did both of those that you have pictured and want to collect more of them. I think I have one other kit to do, and then, like you, I'm going to have to design them myself!
Lovely work! You say it's easy, but I think it's probably practice isn't it? ;-) Have fun building your collection!
Hi, like the result! Also your new logo!
Bertie,
Your work is beautiful! I would love to get a kit like this. Any thoughts as to where? Darby
I love it!! I'm trying for a hornbook collection too -- very slowly. lol!
What a lovely finish Bertie! I have yet to stitch a hornbook, I think I need to rectify that in 2010 because I love any that I've seen.
You are a superb stitcher, Bertie, all your items are so perfectly stitched and finished - I think I shall come to you for classes.
I love your new blog banner, too.
It's lovely Bertie, congratulations
Ahhhh.... Your're funny, Bertie! Actually, I did do that little hornbook - I didn't think the finishing was quite so easy though! And, mine does not look as good as yours does. Great start to a sweet collection, GF!
Wow, Bertie, it is fabulous!! I'm laughing at your saying that the finishing is easy... I was reading through my Hillside Samplings Hornbook chart and wondering if I could manage it w/o gluing myself to the wall or something equally disastrous. I have something to aspire to, that's for sure, with your beautiful collection!
Love your hornbook Bertie, just gorgeous. I have this in my stash, I really must stitch it. Hugs, Lyn
